Overview

Inaccurate data is useless data. Which is why Macadamia Farm Management engaged us to develop a robust counting system that could return reliable instant yield data with every macadamia harvest.
The problem with existing macadamia harvesters is the machinery uses inbuilt scales that return unreliable weight measurements. The harvesters also require frequent calibration. It seemed a tough nut to crack. Geddit.
But, with a few pockets full of tasty macadamias to inspire us, we were able to design our SmartNuts solution – an intelligent live counting software and hardware platform that can provide yield data with 95% accuracy. SmartNuts incorporates an industrial grade vision system that pushes live count data into our cloud monitoring platform via an interactive heatmap.
It’s now possible to instantly track which macadamia trees are returning high vs. low yields, helping farmers better understand their data and identify problem areas that need better management, like – where do we need more bees? And, which trees might be thirsty? Smart Nuts provides true and accurate live data at a significant cost reduction.

Overview

Electromech Services engaged COREMATIC to assist in the development of their new packing facility through automation. The control system’s purpose is to provide reliable automation of the process lines via a simple and easy to operate interface.

We were able to provide a global PLC Control system to the packing facility which interfaced with all the motor drives, control panels, and smart sensors, creating an easy to use system for floor staff to operate with minimal to no training required. In the 2 day commission we were able to utilise the resources already purchased by the client to form the global platform and even simplified the wiring to enable self diagnosis abilities and allow for simple upgrades in the future.

Overview

MFM engaged COREMATIC to conduct a feasibility test on a system responsible for grading macadamia nuts following harvest. The scope was to investigate technology options available for upgrading existing sorting machines to enable higher accuracy and more sorting criteria. The current system involves sorting the nuts to wet and dry stations, and has an operator at the end to sort any that were missed. Identification of defects on the nuts is also an important step. The older technology is limited to its accuracy readings and sorting criteria.
Corematic took some testing material onsite with the client for a dive into technology options available today and how to specifically use them for the task. Spectral camera technology proved a feasible option for detecting the minute defects specified by the client, as well as distinguishing nuts to their wet and dry categories.
